ACA meets at the Veloway in September

ACA Classic Rides
Classic rides contain several distance options and no set speed. At the start, each rider is given a map and cue sheet. Riders are generally grouped by distance, each riding at their own pace.
ACA rides are open to any adult recreational cyclist (regardless of membership or affiliation), as well as riders under 18 accompanied by a responsible adult. Riders of all levels, including novice, are encouraged to participate. All rides are on public streets and roads, and all riders ride at their own risk. Carry identification and water bottle(s). Properly worn, approved bicycle helmets are required of all riders. Remember, each rider is responsible for his/her own safety and security.
Lone Granger
Mon, 09/06/2010 - 8:00amRides of 12, 26, and 52 miles begin in San Gabriel Park in Georgetown and go as far east as Granger. From I-35 take exit 261A (Williams St./RR 2338) and drive east (right) to Austin Ave., turn left and then right onto Stadium Dr. Park just east of the stop sign at Morrow St. (near the restrooms).

Weir Lost
Sat, 09/11/2010 - 8:00amOfficial loops of 20, 30 and 53 miles that pass through the big cities of Jonah, Walburg and, if you don’t get lost, Weir. Plenty of options for shorter rides. Meet at the parking lot at the girl’s softball field in Old Settlers Park in Round Rock. From I-35 take Exit 254 east; follow Route 3406 3.4 mi., cross CR 1460 (3406 becomes 113/Kyphen Rd.) go another 2.3 miles, turn right onto Aten Loop. Take the first right into the parking lot.

Liberty Hill Loops
Sun, 09/12/2010 - 8:00amThese 28, 46, and 65 mile intermediate-level rides follow quiet back roads over the picturesque Jollyville Plateau with a few moderate hills. Pedal through places like Joppa, Andice, Oatmeal and Mahomet, but don't blink or you'll miss them. There are water stops in Bertram, Andice, and Florence on this ride. Meet at the Liberty Hill Elementary School on Loop 332, just west of downtown Liberty Hill.

Krause Kruze
Sat, 09/18/2010 - 8:00amKruze along the quite country roads of Burnet, Blanco and Travis counties and finish with a dip in the famous (or soon to be so) Krause Springs. Rides include an out and back 12-mile family ride that turns around before the first big hill. Other rides of 23, 43 and 60 miles include plenty of hills and fantastic vistas of the Colorado and Pedernales River valleys. Bring plenty of water, especially on longer rides where water stops are limited to the first 23 miles of the ride. Rides start at the Spicewood Elementary School in Spicewood, Texas. From the 'Y' (US 290 and SH 71 intersection) in southwest Austin, follow SH 71 25 miles to the flashing light in Spicewood. Turn right on Spur 191 and follow 0.7 miles to the driveway for the elementary school on the right.

Black’s Fort

Spin past the historic fort (built by Black) that provided settlers with shelter from Apache attacks. Ride the gentle hills of the Edwards Plateau and what is, in essence, the beginning of the Great Plains.

Leanderthal

Routes of 24 to 60 miles go through and around some of the scenic Golden Cheeked Warbler and Black Capped Vireo habitats. Meet at the Leander School warehouse parking lot in Leander. Take Hwy 183 north past Cedar Park. The cross street at the stop light in Leander is Hwy 2243 to the right and South St. to the left. Turn left onto South St. for two blocks. The parking lot will be on your left.

Don’t park in front of the fire station doors! Rides go through Lexington and as far as Lake Somerville.

Park on Centre Park. Do not park in parking lots. Riders meeting near the intersection of Centre Park and Centre Creek. The 31- and 44-mile routes cover rolling farmland. These rides leave from very close in and put you and your bike in rural countryside before you know it.

Lake Victor Vector

Ride the gentle hills of the Edwards Plateau all the way to Lake Victor (where's the lake?). Please park at the back of the parking lot near the restrooms and water feature. Some of the routes venture off of Ronald Reagan Boulevard onto quiet country roads. The long routes go to the towns of Andice and Florence.

Lockhart Bbq Run

Pedernales Pedal
Sat, 10/30/2010 - 8:00amIf you enjoy our Dripping Springs-to-Johnson City ride, you’ll love this ride! We’ll take in part of that same route but return to Dripping Springs via different routes. Bring plenty of water, as the only water stop available is on the 63-mile ride. The only water on the 30-mile ride would require a 5-mile total diversion into Pedernales Falls State Park. Rides start at Dripping Springs High School. From the “Y” (US 290 and SH 71 intersection) in Southwest Austin, follow US 290 to Dripping Springs. Go to Tiger Lane 1.9 miles west of the RR 12/US 290 intersection in Dripping Springs. Turn left on Tiger Lane, and the high school will be on the left.

Dripping Springs Favorites
Sun, 11/14/2010 - 9:00amA new revision of an old route. Meet at Dripping Springs ISD Administration building, on the north side of Hwy 290, about 3/10 of a mile west of the traffic light at Hwy 12. (The admin building is on Loop 64). The 17-, 31-, 45- and 59-mile rides follow Onion Creek and then climb across the Great Divide into the Blanco River Basin, offering one of the most spectacular cycling views anywhere. Plenty of hills, open vistas and fire-ant mounds.
